This is the exact reason Kahr tells people to use more powerfull ammo. I can run winchester white box all day long is just about anything I own, without any issues. I am only offering a possible cause and don't mean to deride your skills or anything. It works great on my M9A3 but will not go back into battery with my Glock 19.

Yes, I function check my G17 every time I reassemble after cleaning. Smoothened it out and I feel a hair less resistance. Try some different, hotter practice ammo and see if the issues continue.
