In CEO Shin's arc, the stories improved a bit, so much so that the only reason I continued to see was for him and for Moora and Biryeom, who had more chemistry than the main couple. In the first episode, the interaction between her an Ha-baek (Nam Joo Hyuk) seemed similar to the first time the protagonists of Kill Me Heal met each other.
Also, during her childhood, her family had financial problem for helping other poor children. There are some lessons that we do learn from this drama as well. Shin Se Kyung is often attributed as the cause of having weak establishment of chemistry with her co-stars but as she is the "noona" of this drama with much more acting experience than her much younger co-stars, we would have expected her to be able to help them in delivering their roles better. Lack of chemistry between the main leads or rather, the intensity and engagement of the main leads' acting is just not strong enough.
The main issue is always being together. This drama probably got us hungry most of the times. But I found myself being mysteriously drawn to it after seeing the trailers, so I took the plunge despite all the negative reviews. His character is also kind of like a robot being pretty emotionless unless he gets angry. I would definitely never watch it again, but it was surprisingly such a miss in so many aspects that everything lacking did lower its level to a very linear-feeling experience which was, due to its comfortingly non-changing nature, strangely watchable. In short, it was nonsense and the last episode especially was such gobbledygook it almost made my brain into chutney. But the love for his cherished woman wins, and he forcedly kisses her to give his grace. Then he appears to have change tactic and disappeared for 10 years which is why Moo Ra was so pissed at him at the start of the drama. Yoon So Ah's family background was interesting but I feel like it was mostly used as an excuse for her insecurities the BIG REVEAL at the end which was linked to the main plot. They do go below the surface briefly. While we may say this is unfair, you realise that not everything can be fair and square in life. Nam Joo Hyuk was also hampered by a character that was rather bland and cool, which didn't offer him many opportunities to emote unlike Im Joo Hwan, who shone in his role as Hu Ye.
I don't why the writers tried to portray her as a pessimistic introvert because she's actually quite a positive and friendly person. The viewer will be completely lost half the time. TBH, I would say it was a waste of my time to watch but the second couple made things more pleasant. Get ready for a long review *.
