Nearly 400 tattoo artists set up shop Jan. 18-20 in the Palmer Events Center for the Star of Texas Tattoo Art Revival, the long-running celebration of all things ink. In the early days of conventions there was a strong community bond---each show was kind of the misfit family reunion, and you really only had 4 or 5 shows a year in the country, we all traveled to them.
For tattoo artists, conventions offer a number of opportunities. At that moment things went quiet in my house and I started swimming in my head.
