Hoover also featured a small collection of Owen's artwork in the centre of the novel. I enjoyed Maybe Someday a lot and Ugly Love has to be one of my favorite books of all time, but when reading Confess I did not feel the same as I did with the other novels I have read by Ms. Hoover, at least by the end. I really enjoyed this change of pace from the traditionally male characters Hoover writes, the ones who are so powerful and strong all the women swoon over them immediately. He rests his forehead against mine and also looks down at our feet. My heart went out for Aubrey, she was hardworking and everything she did was for her son and to prove that she was worthy of being a mother that her son deserved. After quite the fantasy binge, I decided to read something a little more contemporary. She reminded me of Tate in Colleen Hoover's Ugly Love in that aspect. When we both accept that the dance is over, we inhale simultaneous breaths and begin to separate. Auburn Reed is determined to rebuild her shattered life and she has no room for mistakes. There were times I was swooning, others where the anxiety level was through the roof and a few others where I was just plain pissed, because the circumstances were just so unfair, but I guess life isn't fair sometimes, and Colleen didn't have any problems reminding us of that. It makes me feel good to know that it's not just me who doesn't know what to do now. She breaks and twists your heart in many ways but somehow manages to keep a beautiful ending. I had to put down the book and let that fact set.
