Overall, it seems like more of the same from We Came As Romans. We want to point out that the article description is a paraphrasing specification in consideration of the imprinted motif. WCAR's Finally BackAs someone who's been a fan of this band for over a decade, I'm so happy to have a follow-up from their album, Cold Like War (2017); so proud of the band to be able to pull through after the loss of their singer, Kyle, but I feel like something is missing from this album.

Bass player Conor Hesse was fun to photograph, the energy of drummer Alex Ballew is explosive. It's sure to be a track that does serious damage in mosh pits to come, and you can almost picture the crowd surfers riding the wave of energy it's bound to create. At a time when many bands would have thrown in the towel and understandably so, they have delivered a record that pays a fitting homage to their fallen friend and bandmate. 'Golden' meanwhile, opens with hard instrumentals and evocative vocals. We all mourned the loss of band member Kyle Pavone who passed away in 2018. Maybe that's the way they chose to memorialize Pavone, and far be it from me to tell someone else how to grieve. The addition of the rapped verse in the middle adds an extra dimension not only to Daggers, but to Darkbloom as an album demonstrating that they are still able and willing to diversify their sound. Overall it was certainly an enjoyable album, but for me this is an album i'd rather listen to the individual tracks than revisit the album in full, and i look forward to seeing how the band continue from here. Yes, some of the songs on the album are markedly radio-friendly and poppy, with the single release, "One More Day, " being the best candidate, perhaps, for endless radio play. The result is a record that doesn't break the WCAR blueprint much, but that acts as a vessel for a deep sea of emotion. All returns must be accompanied by a valid return authorization number (RMA) issued by Victrola. Darkbloom CDRegular price $10. It doesn't have a very metal feel except for the harsh vocals, because the music definitely leans rock, and not even hard rock at that. The following one two punch of Plagued and Black Hole hits hard too. Almost ballad-like in nature, you can hear the catharsis in every lyric. Darkbloom ushers in a new era for WCAR, but one that also honors the legacy of late co-vocalist and keyboardist, Kyle Pavone. Fun fact: Lead singer David Stephens attended culinary school and if the band hadn't worked out, he was set to be a chef. Doublespeak brings the focus back onto ridiculously heavy riffs but starts to sound slightly too similar to previous tracks and The Anchor and Holding The Embers are pure Metalcore by numbers. The Anchor jumps right into the heavy, but the following verses douse that fire and make you feel as if the song is being dragged through the next few measures. There is expressed anger and feelings of being overwhelmed that are nicely mirrored by the chugging guitar work and Stephens' harsh growls. 1 with 2013's Tracing Back Roots. WE CAME AS ROMANS have spent over a decade destroying audiences on The Warped Tour, as well as on the road alongside the likes of BULLET FOR MY VALENTINE and I PREVAIL, becoming a well oiled machine in the process. Escaping their worries has taken its toll, and the band's belief has taken a hit, a hammer-blow if you will, and they're feeling the effects headfirst. Holding The Embers 4:13. We Came As Romans do try and change with the times, but it leads to mixed results.

One last time the lights dimmed, the crew changed out some of the gear, the crowd grew anxious, and the entire room now slathered in WCAR gear new and old started to chant for the band. The thunderous instrumentals are a mainstay in the band's output, and they do not feel outdated at any moment. Even the album's title, Darkbloom is a representation of how it served as a light that led them through the darkness. It's about making the choice to keep putting the effort forth to move your life forward, in the face of the most difficult times you'll experience. Although the whole album has this narrative weaved throughout it, the poignant One More Day that really makes this evident and is the heartfelt peak of Darkbloom.
